What are Herbal Extracts?

An herbal extract is a concentrated form of the active compounds found in herbs, created by soaking the plant material in a solvent like water, alcohol (preferably Vodka or Brandy) vinegar, oil or glycerin. This process allows the beneficial properties of the herbs to be extracted and preserved, resulting in a potent liquid that can be used for various health benefits. Herbal extracts are commonly used in supplements, tinctures, and natural remedies to support overall wellness and address specific health issues.

Tinctures are herbal extracts made with different solvents, and each one has its own vibe.

Alcohol based tinctures pack a punch and last a long time, they're great for pulling out all kinds of goodies from herbs.  Alcohol based tinctures are more potent and last up to 10 years or more, depending on how it is stored. You can place drops under the tongue or in your favorite beverage.

Warning! When introducing a new herb into your diet, it is recommended that you start with only a few drops and wait 30 minutes to see how your body responds to the herb before moving forward with a standard dose. Research YOUR standard dose according to your weight and size and adjust accordingly. Do not take if you are nursing or pregnant. Consult with your doctor before use. Especially if you are currently on medication. Some herbs interract with medication.

Glycerin based tinctures (Glycerites) are a sweet, non-alcoholic choice, and vinegar tinctures add a nice tang, making them perfect for salads and cooking as well! You can place drops under your tongue or in a beverage. Glycerites last 1-2 years if properly stored. Vinegar infusions last up to 1 year if stored properly.
